AM6442: Hardware-Accelerated Encryption Performance (Considering AM64x, AM62x)

Tool/software:

Dear TI Support Team,

Hi,

We are currently using the AM3352 for a system and have implemented encryption using wolfSSL.
However, we are experiencing a significant performance drop (approximately 95%) when encryption is enabled, as shown below:

  • Without encryption: 16.7MB/s

  • With encryption (wolfSSL): 0.73MB/s

To address this issue, we are considering migrating to a newer SoC such as the AM64x, which features the hardware crypto accelerator, to improve encryption throughput.

We would appreciate your guidance on the following points:

  1. Typical throughput of AES encryption using AM64x and wolfSSL

  2. Current integration status of  wolfSSL in TI’s Linux SDK, and availability of reference implementations

  3. Comparison of wolfSSL implementations on AM3352, AM64x, and AM62x

Thanks,

Conor
