AM335x support for Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP)?

Hi,

I need your help to state what plans exist to support RSTP with AM335x?

Please specifically state if this require special HW config (switch or dualmac mode) and what SW plans exist. (here: using Linux)

Thanks.

/Magnus

  • The Address Lookup Engine (ALE) in the AM335x Ethernet switch supports RSTP by providing four forwarding states (Disabled, Blocked, Learning, or Forwarding) for each port.  The Ethernet switch driver is responsible for configuring the hardware based on information provided in Bridge Protocol Data Units (BPDUs).

I am not familiar with what is currently supported by the Ethernet Switch driver.  I will forward you question about Linux driver support for RSTP to the software driver team and try to get you an answer in a few days.

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Hi again,

Did you get an answer from the Linux driver team on plans to support Ethernet RSTP on AM335x?

Else, let me know if I must request this myself?

    Thanks.

    /Magnus

  • I discussed this with one of our software application engineers and he was going to look into your question.  I suspect he got busy with other task and forgot about it.  I just sent him an email asking if he found an answer to your question.

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Any update on RSTP support by AM335x?
