Hi there,

When I follow those steps to debug a SBL example, there's going to a dead loop.

Please watch this problem, thanks a lot.

Hi Jaxon,

Have you flashed the newly created SBL image with while(1) loop implemented via UART uniflash?

It looks like like you have flashed the default SBL tiimage using UART uniflash and trying to debug the newly created SBL with while(1) loop implemented via CCS. This will not work.

Please flash the same SBL image which you are trying to load via CCS.

Thanks for your response.

Follow your new method, I am trying to recovery the tiboot3.bin on Micro SD card, and redebugging the project.

The problem still remains and stucks in the same place.

Please tell me more detail about SBL tiimage.

Yes, the boot mode is SD card. And the tiboot3.bin is in there.

Hi Jaxon,

SBL examples can not be debugged when the EVM is already initialized with Linux. The above FAQ clearly specifies the SBL example debugging with SBL flow.

Hi Tushar,

Is has another way to debug the EVM?

I am trying to verify my SBL project that is running on R5FSS0-0 core and doing self-run application project.

Only use two R5F core, left cores are not running.

Please tell me more detail about SBL tiimage, like storage place.

Hi Jaxon,

To debug SBL example use the SBL flow. Please initialize you EVM with SBL binaries for debug.

Please refer EVM_FLASH_SOC_INIT for details.

What is purpose to do this? I do not know about it.

there is another question about *.release.hs_fs.tiimage, where is real storage zone?

When timage is transferred through the UART cable, does it exist in the internal flash memory of the chip?

Hi Jaxon,

The SBL is a secondary bootloader like you have SPL in Linux flow. The SBL applications initializes the EVM.

Please read EXAMPLES_DRIVERS_SBL

Each example has its own linker.cmd file where the used memory sections and regions are defined.

Can you please tell which device type are you using? Is it GP or HSFS?

Please refer faq-am6xx-how-to-check-if-device-type-is-hs-se-hs-fs-or-gp for detail.

Is it a custom board or TI EVM?

Hi Tushar,

The device type is HSFS, same with tiimage file type that I flashed first time.

It is purchased from Tronlong company that product SN is SY24072300038, product type is TL6442-EVM-A2.1-64GE8GD-I-A2.1.

The board contains two storage area, an 8GByte eMMC and a 32GByte Micro SD.

Hi Jaxon,

Does it means that the board doesn't have OSPI boot media.

You will need to remove the OSPI instance from the example.syscfg file of sbl_uart_uniflash example. Rebuild the project and flash the new sbl_uart_uniflash image without OSPI module.

Also you will need to use the default_sbl_emmc_hsfs.cfg file.

Now the boot mode is No-boot, I am trying to debug a LED project that is entering to the initial dead loop.

Can you please provide the screenshot where the code stuck?

Halt the CPU and check the call stack in CCS debug window.

The default example is already provided in the ${MCU+SDK}/examples/drivers/boot/ directory. Select the sbl_uart_uniflash example and remove the module which are not supported(like OSPI for above case) on custom EVM.

Follow your steps, removing Flash and OPSI modules will cause a build error.

Please provide a valid project.

Hi Tushar,

Using existed .cfg(${MCU+SDK}\examples\drivers\boot\sbl_emmc\am64x-evm\r5fss0-0_nortos\default_sbl_emmc.cfg) file to flash device, it also stucks in the same place.

Please confirm the flashing error.
