Hello team,

there seems to be some discrepancy in our documentation for the GPU libraries for AM67.

Following this guide:
3.6.4. Build Guide — Processor SDK Linux for AM67A Documentation

and pulling the libs from
lib « usr « release « lws-generic « j722s_linux « targetfs - graphics/ti-img-rogue-umlibs - Graphics related projects on TI platforms - Graphics libraries for Imagination Rogue GPU on Texas Instruments SoC.

These libs need GLIBC_2.38 whereas our current TI Linux kernel v6.12 only used GLIBC_2.36.
This generates the error: /lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.38' not found (required by /lib/libsrv_um.so)

How can this be resolved?

Is your root file system completely unmodified? Are you running everything by the default out of the box 10.1 SDK, if not what are the changes? Per Scarthgap, this 10.1 SDK should support GLIBC 2.38 unless your using an older rootfs or toolchain in your environment.

Hi Sarabesh,

this is not SDK based as this is on a Beagle-Y board.

Its built with elbe (not Yocto) based on the TI Kernel 6.12.

Since Debian 12 is based on GLIBC 2.36 and not 2.38 this creates a problem with the UM-Lib (/lib/libsrv_um.so) as this requires 2.38.

Hi Manuel,

Thanks for clearing up the situation. I understand that your not using the EVM and this problem exists on the Beagle-Y board. To resolve this, it appears we would need to rebuild the UM libs with GLIBC 2.36. I will need to discuss with our development team to see if there are any other options because there could be several dependencies that would make this difficult to successfully rebuild.

Hi Manuel,

Apologies, for the delay. Yes, I did follow-up with the team internally and because this issue is on beagle-Y, we are not able to provide support for this issue. Part of our requirements for support is that it must be reproducible on our EVM.

Hi Sarabesh,

you are right that on a HW level this relates to the Beagle-Y.

But since Debian12 "bookworm" is based on GLIBC_2.36 and it would be helpful to have the UMLibs available also for this compatiblity.

Hi Manuel,

I talked to our developer and he is planning to provide a UM binary built against the older kirkstone sysroots that use GLIBC_2.36. This will get posted on the latest branch as a separate binary so you can use for your Debian 12 environment. Should be available within the week.
