AM623: Hsm development

Part Number: AM623

Tool/software:

Hi, TI expert!

There are three questions I would like to know about the development of HSM:

1.The security resources provided by TI are as follows:

My question is: Can the HSM protocol stack only run on the HSM M4 core? Can the HSM protocol stack run on the TIFS M4 core?

2.According to the following datasheet, is it true that only AM62X chips with Functional Safety are equipped with an HSM M4 core internally.Otherwise, there would be no HSM M4 core?

3.May I ask where we can apply for this software package with HSM_care_package_kit_v00.08.0 or a higher version at TI

  • Hello,

    1. No, the HSM stack can only be run on the HSM core.

    2. The HSM core is always there irrespective of the functional or non-functional safety part.

    3. I will check and get back to you.

  • Hello,

    1. No, the HSM stack can only be run on the HSM core.

We are using the AM6232ATCGHAALW soc for development, which only has one M4 core. Does this mean that we cannot use this chip to develop our own HSM stack?

The two M4 cores inside the SMS in the picture below are probably not the same thing as the M4 core in the picture above, right?

    2. The HSM core is always there irrespective of the functional or non-functional safety part.

What does "Functional Safety" mean? If SOC supports "Functional Safety", what can it be used for?

    3. I will check and get back to you.

    Look forward to your reply!

    Regards,
    Li

  • The two M4 cores inside the SMS in the picture below are probably not the same thing as the M4 core in the picture above, right?

That is correct. The one mentioned in the datasheet is just the general purpose M4F core. The secure subsystem additionally hosts two Cortex-M cores knows as HSM and TIFS core.

What does "Functional Safety" mean? If SOC supports "Functional Safety", what can it be used for?

Please create a separate thread so that it could be directed to the safety expert.

  • Hello,

Please create a separate thread so that it could be directed to the safety expert.

I have found the answer to this question.

In addition to the previously mentioned software package with HSM_care_package_kit_v00.08.0 or a higher version at TI, we would also like to know hardware information related to HSM,the following hardware manual does not provide a detailed introduction to HSM.

We cannot find any introduction documents related to hsm at this link:

  • Hello,
Is there any new progress on this issue?

  • Hello,

May I know the use case for inquiring about the HSM care package. It is expected the customers contact the 3P like Vector for the HSM stack.

What about this question? We want to develop our own HSM stack, but we don't have any documentation for TI's HSM.

  • Li

What hardware manual are you referring to?  Do you have access to security manual and key writer etc (these are only shared under NDA).

Please note that currently we do not have any support model in place to help you with HSM development. These packages are provided as is with limited or no support in public domain.
