AM5728: [AM5728][BeagleBoard-X15] Unable to Build Debian OS with TI SDK 9

Part Number: AM5728
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BEAGLEBOARD-X15,

Tool/software:

Hello TI Support Team,

I’m currently working with the BeagleBoard-X15 which is based on the AM5728 processor. I’m trying to build a Debian operating system using TI Processor SDK Linux 9.0, following the Getting Started Guide provided in the official documentation.

As someone who is new to the AM572x platform, I’ve been strictly following the steps outlined in the guide, but I’m facing issues with the build process. Unfortunately, the documentation becomes a bit confusing at some points, and I’m unsure whether I’m missing a step or misunderstanding something.

Here are some key details:

  • Board: BeagleBoard-X15 (AM5728)

  • Processor SDK Version: ti-processor-sdk-linux-am57xx-evm-09.x

  • Build Host OS: Debian and version

  • Issue: Build process for the Debian root filesystem does not complete successfully.

Can you please help me with the following:

  1. Is the Debian rootfs still supported in SDK 9 for BeagleBoard-X15?

  2. Are there any known issues or additional dependencies when building Debian instead of the default Arago-based image?

  3. Could you provide a minimal working procedure or point me to any updated guide or community example that works with SDK 9?

I would really appreciate any step-by-step clarification or links to updated documentation/tutorials that better suit beginners working with AM572x.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Best regards,
Ajith Kumar
