AM62L-PROCESSOR-SDK: Problem downloading SDK files – extremely slow and interrupted

Part Number: AM62L-PROCESSOR-SDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM62L

Tool/software:

Hi,
I'm trying to download the Linux RT WIC image for AM62L from the SDK download page (tisdk-default-image-am62lxx-evm--rootfs.wic.xz), but the download fails or becomes extremely slow (around 50 KB/s).

I’ve tried multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge), on both Windows and Ubuntu. On Windows I've used a download manager software, but it got stuck at 50% twice and was not able to resume. On Ubuntu, I’ve used "wget -c" which resumes the download, but the estimated time is over 2.5 hours and it fails intermittently.

I’ve verified that I have sufficient disk space, and I’ve tested using different stable internet connections, including disabling Windows Defender and firewalls, just in case something was interfering — no improvement. I'm able to download even larger files from other web servers without issues.

The problem seems to affect all SDK downloads from the TI website, not just the AM62L Linux RT SDK. It seems like this could be an issue with the CDN or server delivering the files.

Is there any alternative mirror or method to get this image more reliably?

Thanks in advance

  • Hello,

The Linux SDK wic images are only on ti.com as far as I know. Are you downloading this image on a virtual machine, container, or something similar?

You can check the CICD site to check for the images: software-dl.ti.com/.../index.html

    Thanks,

    Anshu

  • Hi,

I'm not using a virtual machine or container. I'm downloading the image directly on a physical machine (I've tried both Windows and Ubuntu laptops, even from my phone using mobile data).

I tried the CICD link you shared, and it worked much better the download completed without any issues in a few minutes. Thank you for the suggestion!

The issue with the direct links I was trying before seems inconsistent and maybe related to timing or network. In case this is useful for TI team or anyone else, some notes:

    • I've been trying last two days on company laptops during work hours (using wifi and mobile data), and the issue persisted
    • Last night (GMT-5) I tried from my personal laptop and worked fine.
    • This morning, I tried from personal and work laptops again and the issue returned (50kb/s)
    • Just a few minutes ago I asked someone else on other location to give it a try and worked fine. Then tried again on work laptops, same setup and it worked even when 10 minutes earlier speed was as slow as last two days

The CICD link continues to work consistently, so I’ll be using that. Thanks again for the help!

    Best regards,

    Fiorella

  • Hi Fiorella,

Sorry for the delay as I was out of office.

I was downloading a few items from ti.com and didn't have any issues. Not sure if you had a chance to look at it again.

Glad that the CICD images worked. Just be aware that for any future E2E threads, it maybe asked of which SDK you are using so make a note of which one the CICD sourced.

If no other issues, I'll close this thread.

    Best Regards,

    Anshu
