AM69: Available CSI input spec

Part Number: AM69

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am a little confusing about following three description in TRM of AM69.
Now, I'm refering SPRUJ52D.

According to this document, there are following descriptions in Camera subsystem section.

1. Supports one 4MP camera or eight 2MP camera streams

2. Supports data rate up to 2.5 Gbps per lane (wire rate)
3. Supports 1, 2, 3, or 4 Data Lane connections to MIPI D-PHY Receiver (DPHY_RX)

For above "1", this means camera interface can NOT accept kind of "4K" camera (In case of "4K" camera, 8MP is needed in general.)
On the other hands, for "above "2" and "3", this means "4K" camera can accept kind of "4K" camera. (From viewpoint of bandwidth, camera interface can accept up 10Gbps. If camera input is "4K"(3840x2160@60 with 16bit YUV (kinds of YUV422)), bandwidth become approx 7.96Gbps.)

Then I have following question.

Q1, Can this device accept general 4K@60 camera on CSI_RX ?
Q2, Can this device accept frame rate over 60fps ? (For example, 2K(FHD)@120fps. In this case, bandwith become approx 3.98Gbps.)

Best Regards,

  • Hi Ryuuichi,

    1. Supports one 4MP camera or eight 2MP camera streams

This isn't true. The CSIRX port supports 8MP cameras. I've tested an 8.3MP (3840x2160) 60fps camera successfully. The TRM needs to be updated.

Q1, Can this device accept general 4K@60 camera on CSI_RX ?

    Yes.

Q2, Can this device accept frame rate over 60fps ? (For example, 2K(FHD)@120fps. In this case, bandwith become approx 3.98Gbps.)

Yes, as long as it follows the CSIRX protocol. At that speed it'd likely require a deskew packet to be sent.

    Best,
    Jared
