TDA4VEN-Q1: Which software release can provide MCU only mode demo for TDA4Ventry?

Hi Experts:

We are working for TDA4Entry parking solution design now. In order to save cost TDA4Entry parking system we plan removed external MCU and use MCU domain R5F run safety function.

Now estimate all software run at MCU FFI parts 512KB SRAM is enough, but when use MCU domain R5F monitor A53 running status, RDK11.0 TDA4Entry do not provide MCU only mode demo for us.

We want based on TDA4VM below MCU only demo software develop MCU monitor program, when MCU domain R5F found that A53 /C7 core hang, the parking application do not run. MCU domain need reset A53 core and restart main domain all application.   

Does we provide TDA4Entry MCU only demo now? Those demo need can enter MCU only mode and MCU R5F can bring up A53 LInux OS.

    Hi Tao,

    No, currently this feature is not supported in the SDK for TDA4AEN device.

    Hi Brijesh:

    Does we has plan develop it? TDA4Entry APA solution, in order to remove external MCU to meet ASILB level, customer need MCU FFI domain R5F can monitor A53 ADAS software and restart A53 when happen hang issue at main domain. 

    If use external reset IC or PMIC reset whole system, no CAN message send to other ECU at car log TDA4Entry problem. it can not meet request. So no MCU only support at TDA4Entry means we need add external MCU for TDA4Entry APA.

    Hi Han Tao,

    Do they want to switch to MCU only mode after powering up in full mode? or do they want to boot in MCU only mode? 

    The first most likely can be done in SDK11.0, by following the same sequence as the other platforms, but the second will require more changes.

    Hi Brijesh:

    Customer want switch to MCU only mode after power up. Below are the user case:

    1. first time power on:

         whole TDA4VEntry MCU+A53 normally start up. MCU run at 512KB FFI SRAM and A53/C7 run at external LPDDR4.

    2. when A53 hang

        MCU R5F reset A53 and restart Linux OS at eMMC again. this moment keep all power supply to MCU domain/Main domain.

    3. When A53 stopped APA application.

       shutdown all power supply to TDA4Entry, do not need IO retention.

    Based on those scenario could you please share RDK11.0 matched guide, we will try it at EVM board first.
