Hi,
I'm facing an issue in data annotation while using Edge AI Model Maker.

I have annotated around 20k (20,047) images using the Edge AI Model Maker. But the filter shows -162 as unannotated. Due to this incomplete JSON file, I can't proceed with further steps like Model Maker. I tried to add more images or delete already annotated images to avoid this issue, but no changes. Please help in solving this issue.

  • Hello,

I have brought this thread to the attention of the AI Edge team for further comment.

    Thanks

  • Hi Pranav,

I'd like to understand the problem a little better.   What I am understanding is that

    1. You annotated 20k files in a dataset using the command-line Model Maker tool
    2. You uploaded the resulting dataset (as a zip file) to Edge AI Studio Model Composer on dev.ti.com
    3. The Model Composer annotation tool shows "-162" unannotated files

Please let me know if my understanding is correct.  Would you be willing to share the dataset (with the JSON file) or at least the JSON file?

    Thank you.

    Martin

  • No, Martin. Let me elaborate.

The issue is with the Edge AI model maker. I have annotated a large number of images. After annotation, we need to refresh to know the correct count for each label, right? And there, the unannotated section shows negative values. But, if I filter the unannotated ones, there would be no images to show.

Not able to nullify that unannotated section with the addition or deletion of images. Hence, that JSON file causes an error in model maker for further process.

  • I am not connecting your response about using Model Maker to the screenshots that you provided.   Your screenshots are of Edge AI Studio Model Composer,  not Model Maker which is a command line tool.

Perhaps you can elaborate on what steps you are taking, and which tool you are using at each step.

If you are able to share the dataset and the JSON file in a secure way that would be ideal.  I can potentially provide a secure way to share data with me for analysis and reproducing the issue.

  • Apologies There was a typo in my previous response. I'm using Edge AI Studio's Model Composer for image classification, and even though I've annotated every single piece of data in a dataset of 14,000 images, it still displays a negative value in the unannotated section. As you can see in the screenshot I've attached, when I filter the images to view the unannotated ones, nothing appears.

I hope you understand the problem I'm having, but I'm afraid I can't share the data.

  • Pranav,

Are you able to share the JSON file - we'll need to reproduce the issue you are having in order to advise a solution or workaround.   You are the first report of this kind of an issue.

Also, please share the output of the training step that  you mentioned fails with an error.   The error may also provide some information that could help us in assisting you.
