SK-AM62-LP: Regarding Difference between SK AM62 GP board and SK AM62 LP board

Part Number: SK-AM62-LP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SK-AM62B-P1, SK-AM62B,

Tool/software:

Hello Team,

we have new request to work on SK AM62 LP board with chip AM6254ATGFHIAMCRQ1

The lauterbach trace32 cmm files which we used for  SK AM62 GP board is not working directly on SK AM62 LP board

Can you please let us know the difference between both the boards and also if possible can you please share us the  lauterbach trace32 cmm files  to run on SK AM62 LP board.

Regards,

Pradeep R

  • Hello Pradeep,

    Thank you for the query.

Can you confirm if SK AM62 GP is SK-AM62B-P1 or SK-AM62B

The SK-AM62B-P1 or SK-AM62B has a ALW package.

    Please refer below

The lauterbach trace32 cmm files which we used for  SK AM62 GP board is not working directly on SK AM62 LP board

Can you help me confirm the source from where you received the above file - from  lauterbach.

I will check internally. Can you check if  lauterbach can provide the file for the AMC package.

  • Hello Sreenivasa,

    Thankyou for your reply

our board is not SK-AM62B-P1 or SK-AM62B

we are using  SK- AM62 AM62x SKEVM (PROC114E3) GP board with AM6254ATCGGAALW chip

the new board is AM6254ATGFHIAMCRQ1 chip with SK-AM62-LP AM62x Low Power SKEVM (PROC124E2) for LP board

For TDA4 , we had received from

  • Hello Pradeep,

    Thank you for the inputs.

I am reassigning the query to Richard to support.

  • Hello Sreenivasa,

    Thankyou for your reply

@Richard, we need to execute our code from DDR memory region for CR5 core on SK-AM62-LP AM62x Low Power SKEVM (PROC124E2) for LP board

  • Hello,

I compared the AM62x-SK-EVM and AM62x-LP-EVM and for the scripts the main differences is the SK uses DDR4 and the LP uses LPDDR4.  The current scripts run on both boards but the DDR on the LP is not setup properly.   I can look into updating the scripts to support the LP board.

    Richard W.
  • Hello Richard,

    Thankyou for your reply

Please let us know once the support for LP board at your side is working with cmm scripts to execute from DDR region.

    Regards,

    Pradeep R

  • Hello Pradeep,

I updated the CMMs to support the 3 EVMs (SK, LP, SIP).   Before running the scripts select the EVM type in the file AM62_XXX_EVM.cmm.  The DDR is now available at the bare metal level.

  • Hello Richard,

when i run the am62_ddr_test.cmm , we are getting an error for A53 core

we are using trace32 Software Version: R.2024.02.000168999

    ARM dongle

    Please find the attached  video

Can you please support us here to run for CR5 core for Autosar

    Regards,

    Pradeep R

  • Hello Pradeep,

From the video you shared, I would suspect you do not have an ARMv8/9 credential in your cable and that is stopping the A53 GUI, Based on what worked you at least have a Cortex-M credential.  If you only need to work with Autosar on the Cortex-R5, then you will not need the A53, but you will need to have an ARMv7 credential.   I ran using the latest R.2025.02.000179852 release, however, the version you used should be fine as support for that CPU happened a number of years back.  You can contact Lauterbach support as needed to enable core support.

If you just want to start using the Cortex-R5 with DDR you can adjust the example am62_allcoretype_connect.cmm script (just comment out cores you don't need below line 23.   For any actual Autosar work you would need to get with your Autosar vendor.  They typically have startup basics for SOCs.  If your are creating such basics then you should probably clone whatever was done with the other A62 board and update it for the provided scripts.

I have never used Autosar on the AM62 and questions on that would be to the Autosar vendor or perhaps a different E2E question.

    Richard W.
