AM625: HW Layout Questions

Part Number: AM625

Tool/software:

Hi TI Experts,

To optimize the HW layout, customer has the following questions need check with you, thanks!

1: The current RMII_TXC pin is connected to the CRS_DV pin of the EVM's PHY chip. If we directly connect it to the TXC pin of the PHY chip, what changes are needed on the AM6234 side?

2: Will the lack of CRS_DV network have an impact?

3: Since the AM62's CRS_DV and RGMII_TXC are shared, can RGMII_TXC be connected to the RMII_TXC network?

Thanks,

Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

    Thank you for the query.

    I answered to my best.

1: The current RMII_TXC pin is connected to the CRS_DV pin of the EVM's PHY chip. If we directly connect it to the TXC pin of the PHY chip, what changes are needed on the AM6234 side?

I am not sure i understand the query.

The EVM has RGMII connection, i assume you are considering the RMII connection.

Please follow the connection as per the pin description for RMII

    Table 6-4. CPSW3G0 RMII1 Signal Descriptions

    Table 6-5. CPSW3G0 RMII2 Signal Descriptions

Can you draw a block diagram on the planned connections and share.

2: Will the lack of CRS_DV network have an impact?

Refer below. I suspect you have to connect all the signals as per the RMII interface requirements.

3: Since the AM62's CRS_DV and RGMII_TXC are shared, can RGMII_TXC be connected to the RMII_TXC network?

I am not sure i understand the statement.

The IOs get configured for the specified function based on the interface configured.

  • Hello Kevin,

When using a specific interface protocol, the recommendations is always to connect the signals as per the protocol recommendations.
