Solution for NAND flash controller

The AM335x has an integrated NAND Flash Controller.  Please refer to the AM335x Data Manual and AM335x Technical Reference Manual for a description of the NAND Flash Controller.  You can download these documents from the AM335x Product Folders:

Also, a Linux NAND driver is available in the AM335x SDK.  You can download the first version of the SDK at the following link:

Also, that there will be an SDK update between mid to end Dec.  So check back later, as well.

A basic question about the NAND Flash controller.

What is the the maximum amount of NAND flash that could be controlled with this controller.

From the manual I read it as 64Gb(8GB)?

And the maximum addressing capability would be 512MB?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I guess that for 512MB you refer to section 7.1.1.1 of the TRM - SPRUH73B. Those 512MB are not about NAND specifically but about the GPMC addressing for async memory (ie linear addressing). NAND addressing is different.

If your customer plan to boot from NAND then there are additional consideration (like page size, device ID, ECC scheme,..etc) that need to be looked at. See 26.1.7.2.5 of the AM335x TRM - SPRUH73B.
