AM3517 - eMMC Flash Boot Mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3517

Hello,

Our chosen CPU, the TI AM3517, has an on-chip bootrom from TI that only supports an eMMC V4.2 boot mode. Are there plans for upgrading the on-chip bootloader so it can use the eMMC V4.41 boot procedure supported by the Micron eMMC devices?

In addition, are there plans for the on-chip bootloader supporting more than 1-bit ECC (like 4 or 8-bit ECC).

  • hello Alex,

You should be able to boot from the v4.41 device, you just will not be able to use the added features for 4.41.

There are no plans to update the ROM code to support 4b or 8b ECC for NAND boot.  One option is to use the Micron 4b ECC NAND devices that support 1b ECC on block 0 for the first 1000 Write/Erase cycles.
