TMS320C5505: Encrypted boot image generator

Hi Maarten,

The encrypted boot image will not work effectively for the regular TMS320C5505. It only works effectively for the secure TMS320C5505 (which I do not think is available anywhere). Plus, due to the fact that Encrypted Boot Image Generator tool has encryption technology, so it has to go through a screen process before its release.

My suggestion is not to use Encrypted Boot Image Generator tool for TMS320C5505.

The regular TMS320C5505 has the JTAG enabled, so the secure ROM is open to public, therefore the secure keys are also open to public. For that reason, the regular TMS320C5505 is not suitable for protect your IP. The secure TMS320C5505, on the other hand, disables the JTAG and has new set of undisclosed secure keys in its secure ROM. If you want to protect your IP using encrypted boot image, you will need to use the secure TMS320C5505. Unfortunately, the secure TMS320C5505 in not available now.

Hi Maarten,

As I recall the only secure C55xx device we have ever made is C5535S. I am not sure it is still available. C5535 does not have EMIF, so extended external memory possible.
