Testing eZdsp C5535 USBkit - audio in - problems

Hi,

I just received the eZdsp C5535 USBkit. Following the "Quick Start Guide", in the audio demonstration the audio out works well. The development board works like a USB sound board.

The audio in (paragraph 7 of quick start guide) doesnt work. I cant record nothing.

The development board is a recording device with "working" status (I set as default)

Generic USB driver was selected by Windows

The level is maximum.

Mic is connected (I checked with another one too)...

Everything looks like normal, but I cant record audio from the mic.

(I'm using a notebook Aspire 5536 AMD Turion 2.2Ghz+4Gb RAM+Windows Vista 32bits)

Can anyone help?

Best Regards,

Roberto

  • Roberto,

Please check the troubleshooting section in the TI Wiki page to check everything is working.

  • Seb,

I just find the problem, one pin of J3 wasnt soldered. There was just a little solder.

    Thanks for reply.

  • Hi,

I got my eZDSP kit just this week and followed the instructions from the Quick start guide.

The audio play back in step-6 works fine

But the record function as described in step-7  is not working for me as well.

I tested the microphone on the PC port, it works fine. I checked the device selections on the PC control panel and the USB audio devices are selected as default.

The solder joints on the board seems OK. I am not sure why recording audio from eZDSP's mic is not working.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Raman

  • Raman,

Please could you check the "volume" setting of the Mic ? The sound recorded might be too low so it looks like it did not record anything.

    Regards,

    Seb

  • Hi Seb,

Thanks for your response. The volume setting is fine. I have isolated the problem.

It looks like the mic jack is not making good contact. I pushed the plug all the way in & moved it around the to make the mic/recording to work.

I notice headphone jack is also having contact issues. I have to find the spot to get audio on both L & R. If the plug is plugged all the way in only right headphone has audio.

Is it a common problem in the kit?

    Regards

    Raman
