Hi there,

I modified the omx capture_encode example to capture 2 inputs and send them to the the DSP. I also modified the vlpb component, but at the moment it is just copying the data from the input to the output like the vlpb does.

the problem is that i am only getting about 23-24 fps through the dsp (using 720p30 YUV420)

what can i do to speed it up? later i want to do some calculations on the dsp where i need 30fps.

Nicolas,

Accessing lot of data by cpu on dsp will slow down the dsp. DSP cache is enabled ? for copying the data edma may be faster.

Can you please elaborate what do you mean by "lot of data" how much data is considered "lot of data" ?

I didn't change the vlpb in this part. What are the default properties for the DSP Cache?

Isn't TIMM_OSAL_Memcpy() using dma? I think i read this somewhere...

Nicolas,

By default DSP cache should be disabled. TIMM_OSAL_memcpy will do CPU copy.

Nicolas,

You can add following lines in dspappmain.cfg file, and rebuild dsp. It will enable the cache for DDR.

var Cache = xdc.useModule('ti.sysbios.family.c64p.Cache');

Cache.MAR128_159 = 0xFFFFFFFF;

Cache.MAR160_191 = 0x7FFFFFFF;

you descibed that you combined capture_encode and vlpb.

I am really stuck in this. A starting point would be very helpful.

Possibly you could you please provide your modified example? or tell me how you do measure the fps?

Hello Nico,

Would you kindly describe the changes you had to make in the vlpb component and/or ilclient files in order to combine the capture_encode and the vlpb component?

I have already performed a similar connection between 2 capture->2 DEI->Mosaic-> Display . I am trying to connect the vlpb to one or more of these components. I believe it is something to do with the buffersize since normally you simply make the buffersizes equal between components and usebuffer() as well as allocatebuffer(). In the vlpb example c6xtest, however, the buffer size is 10 *10 which does not make sense to me.
