TMS320C5535: BOOST5545ULP

Part Number: TMS320C5535

This question is actually about C5545 (note the '4' in the part number)

Is this still being produced? I don't see it in the list of TI parts available to purchase, and, in fact, the forum also does not allow me to choose it as a keyword. There is no software support for this part as opposed to the other C55 parts.

What is the expected production life of the rest of C55 family?

    Hi Durga,

    The C5545 is a special package spin of C5535. It is no longer available to public (ti.com). C5535 is still active.

    The older generation of C55x, like C5510A and C5509A are still in production, so the newer generation like C5515/C5535/C5517 are expected in production for long time.

    If I am understanding you correctly, the C5545 is just a repackaged C5535? There are no hardware/resource/software visible distinctions?

    Also, from what I am getting from your answer, it is safe to start a new design around the C5535, right?

    Hi Durga,

    The only caveat is that TI is not officially support new designs for any C55xx. The software, HW and documentation are AS-IS. We will not provide any new updates. Customers are on their own. Of course, we can still answer questions on e2e, but no schematics review or code debugging.

    So does TI has a suggested replacement for the C55 (e.g. for low cost/low power applications) that will be fully supported for the foreseeable future?

    Hi Durga,

    As you mentioned, C55xx is 16-bit low-power/low-cost DSP. It is a unique product line. There is no suggested replacement for C55x.
