How to change DEFAULT_SAMPLE_RATE (8k) to 44100 Android audio loop back rec and play ?

Hello there,

Following the Audio driver section, I changed the DEFAULT_SAMPLE_RATE to 44100, at various places (AudioRecord.h,alsa_handle_t _defaults[] ) etc.,

But still I cannot create an instance of AudioRecord using rate 44100hz, mode Stereo, only possible rate and mode is 8000hz and mono.

arec = new AudioRecord(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC,
                                                   8000,
                                                   AudioFormat.CHANNEL_IN_MONO,
                                                   AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT,
                                                   buffersize1);

Could anyone suggest what change I have to do for recording and playback with rate 44100 and mode Stereo?
