AM623: Usage of RMII interface

Tool/software:

In our design, there is a network switch IC using RMII without RMII_RX_ER pin connected to AM623, when we trying with ping action, AM6232 keeps reporting iet_rx_smd_err and can not establish communication with switch, does this related to the pin missing ? is there any way to dismiss this error or disable RX_ER pin?

Ethernet PHY DP83TC814R-Q1 has the RX_ER pin. Does this have to be connected to AM62P when using RMII?

The DP83TC814R-Q1 datasheet says this pin is optional. However, the AM62A TRM p.1631-1632 mentions this pin for typical application. Is this pin required?

RX_ER is optional for RMII implementations. This is a PHY to MAC signal so please refer to the PHY datasheet for implementation instructions when it is not connected to a MAC.

Let me know your thoughts before i can check if any software changes are required to be done.

Thank you, so the ER pin is optional.

We disabled this pin in SW configuration and now no more SMD error.
