I could not reproduce the issue you have mentioned after the firmware upgrade over FoE in EtherCAT 401-Simple Demo example.

I use my own program based on previous version of ESL_FoEdemo. 

 After upgrade firmware, x509 certification on sbl is success every time.

After that, sometimes the application starts successfully, and sometimes it hangs at the initialization part.

I think there is no issue during FoE.

Currently, I am not calling a function SOC_generateSwWarmResetMcuDomain() in my program, but does this have any effect?

Of course I do hardware power cycle after FoE.

I'll also try using default FoE example.

Hi,

Rewriting the application by FoE was not the cause.

When I run my program on LP and when I run the example program on my custom board,
there are no problems in these, but the problem occurs when I run my program on my custom board.

So why does the application sometimes get stuck in the initialization?

What could be causing it to hang here?

What program changes avoid the hang in System_init()? Any specific change in code leads to hang?

It is not known what change caused the hang.
All I know is that the program hung after ESL_FoEdemo was changed.
I have confirmed that there are no build warnings or overflows of assigned variables.

I'll share ESL_FoEdemo over email.

And I'll add a few more details.

In my program, I dynamically allocate a 4096 byte foeBuffer (same as foeCircularBuffer).

So I changed the global variable declaration

from　static uint8_t *foeBuffer = NULL; 

to        static uint8_t foeBuffer [4096] = {0};

and delete OSAL_MEMORY_calloc() and OSAL_MEMORY_free() for foeBuffer.

After these changing the hang went away.

Otherwise after I commented EC_API_SLV_FoE_cbRegisterWriteFileHandler() out it no longer hung.

When you try to allocate 4096 bytes with OSAL_MEMORY_calloc(), did you observe any error or was it successful to allocate the memory requested?
What is the configured Heap size in your application sysconfig? Did you try increasing the Heap size and observe if it still hangs?

This problem sometimes occurs and sometimes does not occur. 

And once started, OSAL_MEMORY_calloc and FoE will always succeed.
The hang occurs during init, so memory has not yet been allocated.

So the heap size seems sufficient to start application.

However, I copied the sysconfig file from ver.09_02, does that seem like there's a problem?

Kindly use the toolchains recommend by Ind-comms-sdk 11.0 and use the syscfg file from sdk11.0 example.
I integrated your FoE changes in EtherCAT Simple demo from Ind-comms-sdk11.00.00.08 and I could not reproduce the issue.

Could you please let us know how you load/flash the application to AM243x LP and which boot mode is set on the board?

After running the EtherCAT application from Jtag, press SW1.
Connect to the target again, reset the CPU, then load and run the program.
This should cause the program to hang.
Normally, you should load "load_dmsc_hsfs.js" after pressing SW1.
