TDA4VM: Recommended deserializer board for SK-TDA4VM + multi-camera FPD-Link setup

Part Number: TDA4VM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB960-Q1EVM

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,

I’m working on a 4-camera input project using the SK-TDA4VM EVM, and I would like to connect up to 4 FPD-Link III cameras—possibly IMX390 modules with UB953 serializers.

I’ve reviewed TI documentation and believe the DS90UB960-Q1EVM might be a good candidate as a deserializer, since it supports multiple FPD-Link inputs and MIPI CSI-2 output.

Could you help confirm:

1. Is the DS90UB960-Q1EVM officially compatible with SK-TDA4VM?
2. Is it possible to connect the DS90UB960-Q1EVM directly to J24 on the SK-TDA4VM and use all 4 camera inputs simultaneously through this single deserializer board?
3. Does TI provide any sample device trees, reference software, or EdgeAI PSDK support for using the UB960 board with SK-TDA4VM?

Any guidance on recommended deserializer boards for this setup would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

  • Hi Zhiyang Jin,

    1. Is the DS90UB960-Q1EVM officially compatible with SK-TDA4VM?

I have not tested the DS90UB960-Q1EVM, but the Fusion 1 and Fusion 2 boards are tested and supported (they use DS90 deserializers). Another option would be the mini-fusion board from Arducam.

    2. Is it possible to connect the DS90UB960-Q1EVM directly to J24 on the SK-TDA4VM and use all 4 camera inputs simultaneously through this single deserializer board?

    It should be.

    3. Does TI provide any sample device trees, reference software, or EdgeAI PSDK support for using the UB960 board with SK-TDA4VM?

The device trees for the fusion 2 board are within the ti-linux-kernel.

    Best,
    Jared
