AM2732: Inquiry Regarding FIPS 140-2 Certification for Sitara AM Series (AM27x, AM62x, AM62A, AM62x SIP)

Part Number: AM2732

Tool/software:

Hi Sitara Champ !

We would like to inquire about the FIPS 140-2 certification status of the Sitara AM series products, specifically AM27x, AM62x, AM62A, and AM62x SIP.

We understand that FIPS 140-2 certification is typically granted to specific cryptographic modules.

Could you please provide information on the current certification status and any future plans regarding FIPS 140-2 (or FIPS 140-3) validation for the cryptographic modules within these products?

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Jack

  • Hi Jack,

We don`t do FIPS 140-2 cert on the TI Processors as this is system level certification that customer need to work with third party security labs. We can help with IP level certification data for our crypto accelerators and sharing TI ROM and TIFS security audit reports.

I assign this thread to our security expert for further comments.

    Best regards,

    Ming

  • Hello,

TI does not specifically pursue certification for the cryptographic modules that are used on the SoC. This is because the modules are already compliant with certain standards.

The security accelerator within the HSM supports TRNG (True random number generator). The TRNG integrated is a true random generator which complies with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) Publication [FIPS 140-2]. The TRNG Core engine module uses free running oscillators as basic building blocks which checks for repeating patterns coming out. If a repeating pattern persists then the internal error detection circuit will signal an error event. Interrupt is also generated to the host processor to indicate these error events.

    Hope this helps.
