After reading this thread, I have few question for power consumption optimization w/ MCU Only mode (or deep sleep mode).

Few question,

(1) Is it possible to disable some BUCK 1/2/3 or LDO 1/2/3/4 power output from TPS65219 when AM62 works in MCU only mode (or deep sleep mode) for power saving?

(2) Do we have any power (current) consumption information for each BUCK and LDO for TPS65219 when AM62 works in MCU only mode (or deep sleep mode) ?

Hi Gibbs,

As shown in the "Power Modes" section of the AM62x Technical Reference Manual (TRM), all external SoC supplies/voltages are kept ON when entering MCU-only low power mode. This document summarize the power consumption for different benchmarks and low power modes. The TPS65219 PMIC also has a calculator to help customers estimate power, efficiency and thermal. Hi Gibbs,

One opportunity to reduce power consumption is to reduce the clock speed of the MCU M4F PLL. This speed of the M4F core will be maintained into MCU Only mode. Please be aware of the balance between performance and power consumption if you decide to change the PLL speed.

Simple conclusion :

I think there are only two way to reduce power consumption in MCU only mode w/o disable PMIC BUCK/LDO output

(1) Reduce clock for MCU M4 PLL

(2) Let PMIC works in AUTO-PFM after swap in MCU only mode.

Yes, reducing the clock speed and configuring the PMIC to operate in auto-PFM are two techniques we recommend to reduce power in MCU-only LPM.
