Hi,

In TDMS64EVM they use different PHY for Ethernet (DP83867IRRGZR/T) and EtherCAT (DP83869HRGZT) communication.

can we use a same PHY (DP83867IRRGZR/T or DP83869HRGZT) for both EtherCAT and Ethernet communications? Is it necessary to have different PHYs for different applications?

    Hi Rubigaa,

    There is no requirement for the PHYs to be different part number. You can use either DP83867IRRGZR/T or DP83869HRGZT based on your board requirements. The EVM has 3 PHY ports, of which one is muxed between CPSW and ICSSG domain. If you are planning to use all 4 ports simultaneously, then you have to make sure that you have 4 individual PHY ports.
