Dear TI ,
I hope you’re doing well. My name is Hyeongseok Kim from South Korea,
and I’m reaching out with some technical questions about implementing Secure Boot on the Keystone II 66AK2G12 GP processor.
We have already designed, manufactured, and sold roughly 100 power-distribution automation units using the Keystone II 66AK2G12 GP processor.
One of our other customers is now requiring enhanced cyber security, so we are evaluating Secure Boot.
I saw on the E2E forum that questions about Secure Boot should be directed to the local TI contact, so I’m sending this email.
When I asked ChatGPT, it indicated that the RSA-2048 public key (and related data) should be stored in the CPU’s internal OTP region,
and that during boot the signature of the MLO (u-boot) must be verified before proceeding.
I would like to request any related documentation or reference materials.
I have another question:
since the 66AK2G12 is a 32-bit processor and the TI-provided SDK currently ships with Linux kernel 4.19.94,
we will need to address the Year 2038 (Y2K38) problem for long-term deployments.
The Y2K38 issue is a major concern for us.
I understand that the Y2K38 issue for 32-bit processors was patched in Linux kernel version 5.6 and later.
Are there any plans to port the 66AK2G12 to a newer Yocto release and issue an updated SDK?
Thank you.
BR,
Hyeongseok Kim.
