Part Number: SM320C6748-HIREL

Tool/software:

Dear Mukul Bhatnagar-san,
Thanks for reply!
I would like to clearify my understanding.

Which following understanding is correct?
(1) Generally, When aircraft manufacture use DSP in their aircraft system, they use DSP which has support for other standards, like ISO26262 etc.
(2) Ganerally, aircraft manufacture doesn't use DSP in their aircraft system.
(3) (or any other understanding?)

Best regards, Shin
  • Hello Shin-san

On 1, in the past we have seen such customers buy commercial of the shelf (COTS) devices , but the overall certification responsibilities are completely with the customer. TI does not provide any additional supporting documentation etc.   In addition, any Microprocessors (e.g. AM6x family or TDA4x family) or Microcontrollers (AM2x or C2000 family) that support functional safety, are a better starting point for the customer looking to achieve aviation/defense level certs.  While TI does not certify to these DO standards directly there is a fairly straightforward corollary to automotive/industrial safety levels as compared to COTs device, devices that support functional safety may have things like safety manual, FMEDA, FTAs etc (see link below)

    Functional safety | TI.com

for C6748 family we do not offer such documentation as it was not developed with functional safety in mind

On 2) Avionics customers may/ do use DSP, SoCs etc ,but as mentioned TI does not provide any DO /DAL certification support directly.

    Hope this helps
