DM814x EVM LCD Not Working

I've just taken delivery of the DM814x EVM.  The backlight on the LCD comes on, but the Application Launcher is not displayed, although "matrix_guiE" is running.

Dmesg and ps outputs are shown below.  Any advice on how to debug & fix this would be most appreciated.

  • Hi Kevin,

After the Linux has booted up can you execute the following command and check if you are observing the demo on the LCD?

    runDecodeDemoLCD

  • Hi Vijay

There was no "runDecodeDemoLCD", but I did find "runDecodeDisplayLCD".  There was no change on the LCD.

    The output is shown below.

    Thank you very much

  • Hi Kevin,

Can you please check if the display isis showing up on the HDMI out from the Baseboard? If this is working fine, you may change/re-direct the display from HDMI to LCD by using this command: sh  /usr/share/ti/ti-media-controller-utils/change_display.sh lcd

  • Hi Vijay

Yes, I tried enabling HDMI (and back again to LCD), but that did not work either.

    Thanks

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

Can you try creating a fresh bootable SD card with the TIEZSDK and try once? The procedure for the same is listed out in Software developers guide.

  • Hi Vijay

i tried that, but it did not seem to make any difference.

    Regards

    Kevin

  • Hi,

Is your LCD showing any activity like backlight, some junk image etc. May be LCD is not connected properly.

    Regards,

    Hardik shah

  • Hi

The LCD backlight is on and there is a dark grey band and a separate black line across the LCD.  I checked the connections and they look OK physically.  It does not work on the HDMI output either.  Are there any other test utilities or programs that I can use to diagnose the problem?

    Regards

    Kevin

  • Hi All

It's now working (albeit not that well).  The connector between the expansion I/O daughter card and the LCD module is faulty - twisting it slightly makes it work.

    Regards

    Kevin

  • Yes,

That is the common problem with the LCD module and IO daughter card. Try removing and reconnecting the board to make it work consistently.

    Regards,

    Hardik Shah
