AM69: Application same as RBP

Genius 17525 points
Part Number: AM69

Tool/software:

Hi Experts,

We'd like to ask the following questions using AM69:

[1 Is OSPI needed for AM69 processors if you're not going to use the MCU? Only run Linux.
[2] Will the boot screen appears on the Display Port interface?
[3] When flashing the ARM processor with the ARM trusted firmware, which pins should I use then?

Customer goal is to use the AM69 as a PC like a raspberry pi.

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

Is OSPI needed for AM69 processors if you're not going to use the MCU? Only run Linux.

OSPI is not a mandatory peripheral. It is only used if you have a flash connected to the OSPI and you are using it. Otherwise, it is not needed.

When flashing the ARM processor with the ARM trusted firmware, which pins should I use then?

It is boot mode dependent. The ATF is usually packaged with another binary depending on the boot flow. The bootloader is responsible for loading the ATF binary in DDR and configuring A72 cores to start from there.

  • Hi Archie,

Will the boot screen appears on the Display Port interface?

There will not be any indication on Display Port that boot is happening. However, once boot completes, a simple GUI will pop up on the display connected to the Display Port interface (or HDMI interface) which you can hook up a keyboard and mouse to click through the demos if tisdk-edgeai-image-j784s4-evm.wic.xz image is used.
