TDA4AL-Q1: IMX728 (RCCG) sensor CFA support in TI tuning tool

Hi TI expert,

We are currently using the Sony IMX728 image sensor, which adopts the RCCG pixel pattern.

However, we noticed that the default tuning tool (python build) does not provide an explicit option for the RCCG pattern.
The available COLOR_PATTERN settings in the config file are:
# 0=RGGB; 1=GRBG; 2=GBRG; 3=BGGR; 4=MONO;
# 10=RGGI, 11=GRIG, 12=BGGI, 13=GBIG, 14=GIRG, 15=IGGR, 16=GIBG, 17=IGGB
COLOR_PATTERN xxx

It seems RCCG is not directly supported here.

Could you please advise which color pattern setting would be the most compatible with RCCG?
Or is there any workaround or recommended approach for using RCCG sensors in the TI tuning workflow?

As i understand, this format is not supported in the DCC tool. I will check with Gang Hua if there is any solution for it.

You may choose RGGB in this case for the python script.

RCCG sensor is mainly for machine vision use case as it may be quite different from RGGB sensor in color reproduction.
I won't expect using RCCG sensors in the same way as RGGB sensors for reproducing RGB output images.
For example, at low CCT environment, RCCG sensors may not be able to recover the blue color at all.
But, creating RCG output from RCCG sensors would be similar to creating RGB output from RGGB sensors.

Unfortunately, we don't have much application experience in machine vision use case to give you more advice.
