C6678 power consumption summary question

Hi,

I am using the C6678 power consumption summary tool. But I found that when the core frequency is lower, while the total power under the CVDD1 is higher. Please find the below image for more. Could you please give some explaination? Thank you very much.

Core frequency = 1250MHz

Core frequency = 800MHz

  • Andy,

We are reviewing the power characterization data to be sure the spreadsheet is accurate.  I will update the post once we have an answer.

  • Hi Champs,

it seems that there is a 'bug' in the excel spreadsheet provided in sprm545. The spreadsheet rev is 1.0.2.

The issue I see is the following. Use the default setting of the spreadsheet. The power figures for CVDD1 are:

    Activity: 13.94 mA

    Baseline: 1379.62 mA (@1250 MHz)

    Total: 1393.55 mA

If you now lower the frequency from 1250 to 800 (this is the only change made) the power figures for CVDD1 are:

    Activity: 10.30 mA

    Baseline: 2012.97 mA (@800 MHz)

    Total: 2023.27 mA

So the baseline power consumption goes up when the frequency is lowered while I believe power consumption should go down when frequency is lowered.

Could someone please confirm or correct this quickly please.

    Thanks and kind regards,

    one and zero

  • FYI,

this is now fixed with sprm545a.

    Kind regards,
