Hello!

We are using TDA4AEN SDK to version 11.0 on a custom board that is similar to the J722S EVM. We want to use the DSI -> SN65 to output to a mini-display-port connector, ideally so that it can be used in an vision application.

There are some references to the SN65 in vision_apps under utils/dss/src/app_dss_soc.c, but they are not used for this SOC. Is this supported by the SDK? Is there an example/test application? It seems like the SN65DSI86 is not part of the Linux device tree for J722S. If not already supported in the SDK, what steps do we need to follow to make it work.

After that, will there be any additional modifications in needed to get `app_single_cam.sh` to output a camera's video stream to the display via the SN65?

Will this support a vision application such as app_single_cam?

Perhaps linux can setup the SN65 so that app_single_cam can use openvx's display node to output DSI to SN65?

Hi Stuart,

No, this is not integrated with vision application such as app_single_cam. Let me check with our team in India if there are plans in the next release to support the DSI2EDP driver for RTOS.

Hi Stuart,

Checked with our team and it looks like DSI support using SN65DSI86 bridge on TDA4AEN has been added to PDK in 11.0. Currently checking to see if that also includes integration with vision apps.

Hi Stuart,

Sure thing. I will update when I get a response from them. We have an internal email chain and currently it is expanding to include more folks to check on the integration details with vision apps.

Hi Stuart,

We do not have integration with vision apps (aka, we don't have a OpenVX node that works with the SN65DSI86 bridge). Development team are assessing how long it would take and will provide a date next Tuesday.

In the meantime, the driver for the bridge does exist in MCU+ SDK. The steps to configure and test are in this E2E: PROCESSOR-SDK-J722S: Device driver for DSI interface . So recommendation would be to run this standalone example to make sure hardware is working.
