want to consult about the environment to run `edgeai-tidl-tools`

from the github readme

it highlighted that:

X86_PC mode for this repository is validated with below configuration:
Ubuntu: 22.04
Python: 3.10

1)Can we use Ubuntu 24.04?
due to 24.04 is LTS version (means long term support release which can up to 5yrs support)

2)Can we use newer python version? example 3.12

Please advise

Hello WengChong,

These versions are matched to what we test against and can confidently support. Other versions can likely be used, but we cannot guarantee they will work without modification.

A common way to avoid differences in versioning between your host system and the validated tools is to use a docker environment. Please see the edgeai-tidl-tools docker components [0] [1]

Thanks Reese,

is it matter if the docker environment ussing
ubuntu: 22.04
python: 3.10.12

but the ti-SDK image is running on the newer version?
python: 3.12.9

Yes, newer TI-SDK's (v10.x, 11.x) will be running python3.12. This version generally changes when we upgrade the Linux LTS kernel.

You are fine to have different python versions between host x86 (python3.10 in Ubuntu 22.04) and target aarch64 device (python3.12 in SDK 10.x, 11.1).

For instance, my development machine is Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with default python 3.10. I have never encountered versioning issues on the target SDK due to mismatch between host and target python version.
