AM3359: AM335x GPMC – BE0n/BE1n only toggle in 16‑bit non‑mux mode

On AM335x GPMC we see:

• 16‑bit non‑multiplexed: BE0n/BE1n toggle as expected.

• 16‑bit multiplexed & all 8‑bit modes: BE0n/BE1n stay low (do not toggle).

Question:
Is this behavior expected (i.e., BE lines only valid in 16‑bit non‑mux mode), or is there a configuration to enable them in multiplexed/8‑bit modes?
