TDA4VM: Consultation on EE issues

Part Number: TDA4VM

Tool/software:

Hi,

I'm currently debugging EE, but the results aren't satisfactory. Either the image is too blurry, or it's clear but has severe water ripple artifacts. So I'd like to ask, in the EE plugin, which parameters do I generally need to adjust, and what are the functions of these parameters? I've already read the relevant documentation, but I still don't quite know how to debug them.
Thanks!
  • Hi Ying,

Please follow the EE plugin guide in the tuning tool and refer to TDA4 TRM for more EE details.

You may start with just sharpener and adjust its gain and noise threshold together.

  • Hi,

    1. The EE effect I'm getting now is much better than before, but it's still not good enough. I feel the details in the image aren't clear enough. Could you please help me check if there are any EE parameters that need improvement?

    2. There is another image in the compressed package taken by ISX031, from which it can be seen that there are spots on the ceiling. However, the one taken by X3C doesn't have such spots, which should be due to the optimization by NSF4. Is there any way to remove the noise while retaining the corresponding details?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Ying,

You may compare the difference among the combinations of EE on/off and NSF4 on/off.
If NSF4 removes all the spots on the ceiling as noise, EE cannot recover them.

BTW, there are some false pink color in your shared YUV images.
Is your WDR decompanding done correctly?

  • Hi,

    1. How do I need to improve this issue?

    2. I can tell that it's NSF4 that has optimized away the spots. How can this issue be avoided?

Could you please give me some advice? I want to solve the ISP-related issues as soon as possible. Thank you very much.

  • Hi Ying,

You would need to tune NSF4 and EE iteratively.
If too much noise and details are removed in NSF4, EE cannot recover the details anymore.
On the other side, if NSF4 is too weak and keeps too much noise, EE will boost the noise while doing sharpening.

This is tradeoff between removing noise and keeping details.
You would have to tune under different lighting conditions and find the good tradeoff for each condition.
