TDA4AP-Q1: VAIP_TDA4APQ1_GPU Power Supply

Part Number: TDA4AP-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello Experts

We wanted to use TDA4AP88 instead of TDA4VP88.

1. Which are the power pins used for GPU? Is it VDD_Core or any other power pins are used ?

2. Would there be any reduction in capacitors in the power lines if TDA4AP88 is used? if yes could you share the schematics or link to any eval board schematics?

regards

Ratheesh

  • 1. Correct, GPU is supplied by VDD_CORE.

    2. If you use TDA4AP88 vs TDA4VE88, the GPU processor is disabled per DM.  Using the J721S2 Power Estimation Tool (PET), you can select the EVM Superset use case as a baseline for peak loads. Then simply set the GPU resource usage to 0% (instead of 80% per Superset use case) and you can see the VDD_CORE peak load estimate is reduced ~1.2A. This is an 8.7% reduction is CORE peak load. You should be able to reduce PoL bulk capacitance by similar -8.7% and verify robust performance during your product development testing.

  • Thanks Bill for the feedback. Below table shows the distribution of the capacitors in VDD_CORE. If we wanted to have 8.7% reduction what should be the distribution of the capacitors?

    47uF, 1210,0603 9
    10uF , 0603 6.3V 17
    3T 3
    470nF,10V,0402 60
    Total 89
