Hi Sir,

We would like to enable PTP(Precision Time Protocol) on TDA4AL(J721S2).

Our codebase version is 10.01.00.04.

Please let us know how to enable PTP in our codebase, including which linux kernel config settings we need to enable. Thanks.

The default SDK has the required configs enabled for PTP.

In the link https://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-linux-j721s2/11_00_00_08/exports/docs/linux/Foundational_Components/Kernel/Kernel_Drivers/Network/CPSW-PTP.html, It mentions enabling PTP by kconfig option CONFIG_TI_AM65_CPTS. But there is only CONFIG_TI_K3_AM65_CPTS in the our SDK 10.01.00.04.

Is it possible to enable PTP by simply enabling CONFIG_TI_K3_AM65_CPTS? Does it not require enabling other Kcongifs? For example, CONFIG_PTP_1588_CLOCK=y, CONFIG_PTP_1588_CLOCK_OPTIONAL=y, CONFIG_PTP_1588_CLOCK_KVM=y, CONFIG_NET_PTP_CLASSIFY=y, CONFIG_TI_K3_AM65_CPSW_NUSS=y, CONFIG_TI_K3_AM65_CPSW_SWITCHDEV=y, CONFIG_TI_AM65_CPSW_TAS=y and so on.

Sorry for the delay on this.

The CPTS config is what is required from TI driver side. The other PTP configs would be required for the tools being used. Other CPSW configs to be used are mentioned in https://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-linux-j721s2/11_00_00_08/exports/docs/linux/Foundational_Components/Kernel/Kernel_Drivers/Network/CPSW2g.html

Switchdev would be required if you are using bridge on the ethernet interfces.
