TMS320C6748: I need to use TMS320C6748 ZWTD4, but can I use TMS320C6748 ZWTA3? what potential issues could arise?

I should have used the TMS320C6748 ZWTD4, but I ended up using the TMS320C6748 ZWTA3. 
Environmental electromagnetic testing for design verification has been completed, and the developer designed the system clock to be 456MHz.
Do I need to change the chip? And what potential issues could arise?

    If you are asking what issues could arise if you clock the A3 version to 456MHz, I can't say for sure, but you may have random timing related issues. These may not present themselves early in the product life cycle, but may do later. That device OPN is not rated for that speed of operation. 

    If you are asking about application performance when limited to 375MHz, I cannot assess.

    1.  If I use less than half of the DSP's full performance, it will the probability of problems occurring be reduced ?

    2.  Are there cases where errors do not occur or are reduced even when there are no high-speed processing operations such as PPL, real-time image processing, or FFT?

    3. If the product life cycle is short,  only 10 minutes or so of use, then this might not be a big problem?

  • The devices are specified to function at the voltages and speeds documented in the datasheet. Exceeding these limits means you are operating a device out of spec and is not supported. By operating the device out of spec, you may encounter immediate issues with the devices you have, issues may not be seen until later in a products life, or you may see issues in the next batch of devices due to processes variation.

    I cannot answer your questions as it requires characterization data beyond the the specified limits. It is data I do not have.
