Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65220, TPS65219
Tool/software:
Hello Expert Team,,
I’m currently designing a custom board based on the AM6442 and have a question regarding the power supply.
Due to safety considerations, I’m unable to use the recommended PMICs (TPS65219 or TPS65220).
Instead, I’m evaluating the TPS6522430RAHRQ1 as a potential alternative.
Based on my understanding, the TPS6522430RAHRQ1 in Use Case 1 – as described in Application Note SLVUCV9 – would mostly meet our requirements.
However, I’ve noticed a few differences:
- In Use Case 1, the core voltage (0.75V) is supplied by Buck1 + Buck2 in parallel (10A total). According to the Power Estimator, our AM6442BSFFHAALV configuration requires approximately 1.3A for the core.
- The power-up sequence follows the voltage order required by the AM6442, as implemented in the TPS65220. However, the timing is not exactly identical.
I have the following questions:
- Would it be acceptable to use the TPS6522430RAHRQ1 as-is, or would configuration adjustments be required?
- If so, are we allowed to make these adjustments ourselves, or would your support be required for that?
- Are there any additional considerations or potential issues when using this PMIC with the AM6442 that I may have overlooked?
Thank you very much in advance for your support – I’m looking forward to your feedback!
Best regards,
Anatoly
