AM62L: Keywriter - reuse from AM62?

Hello Team,

We're currently looking into turning the AM62L into a HS-SE device.

We can't find a AM62L correspondence for otp_keywriter_am62x-linux-installer.run. Am I right to assume that the

AM62x OTP keywriter can be used for AM62L?

The OTP keywriter manual describes a way to generate a tiboot3.bin from

the TI BSP which includes the certificates for burning the eFuses. The

generated tiboot3.bin merely passes the certificates to the SCI API

using TISCI_MSG_KEY_WRITER. For us it would be more convenient to embed

the certificates into our bootloader and send the TISCI_MSG_KEY_WRITER

from there rather than creating an extra single purpose tiboot3.bin.

Would that be feasible or are you aware of any drawbacks with this

approach?

Hi Daniel,
For security reason, there're difference on TI production key set, TIFS firmware etc... between AM62x vs AM62L. So it is impossible to use AM62x OTP keywriter on AM62L.
AM62L introduced a new OTP keywriter lite, where the new TIFS API <OTP Keywriter (Lite) TISCI Description> is callable by SW entity running on A53 cores. Refer to this e2e on AM62L OTP keywriter lite overview, and how to call the new TIFS API from u-boot.

AM62L OTP keywriter lite schedule is not fixed yet (most likely Aug/Sept).
I'll keep you posted once the schedule is confirmed.

AM62L OTP keywriter lite is currently under internal testing, and will be released once testing is complete (most likely in Sept).

yes, TIFS team completed the testing, and currently working on the tooling/scripts publishable externally.
I'll keep you posted as soon as I receive the feedback on the release schedule.
