Hi, TI experts:
    In our plan, we use cameralink camera to capture video, use DM8168 EVM for encoding because of its high performance of encoding, but I have some questions about DM8168 EVM use cameralink camera!
    1. As we know, DM8168EVM has no cameralink interface, that, which interface is the best solution for cameralink convert? VGA? HDMI? YCbCr or others?
    2. In the EVM main board, there is PCI-e interface, can PCI-e can do video capture, if do that, has the pipeline for HDVICP2?
    3. How do we design by ourselves? we use a FPGA development board design cameralink convertor, then, have the interfaces with expand IO interfaces, that is J16, J17 in the main board.
    So, can TI experts give me some information? It is trouble for a long time.

    Hi,

    Answers to few of your questions.

    1. DM8168EVM can't take raw sensors output. But yes it can BT601, BT656 and BT1120 inputs from various HDMI, component and composite decoders. It supports VGA, HDMI and YcbCr equally well. So you can use any of them. To name few we have TVP7002, and SII9135 decoders running with DM8168 capture,.

    2. PCIe can take raw data in but it cant take video signals.

    3. TI is having reference design boards supporting above decoders.

    You can contact your local FAEs for reference design boards and you can build up on top of that.

        Thanks for your reply, but I still have some questions:
        1. If I design a cameralink receiver use DS90CR288, there is necessary use FPGA for control of it? If I do this, which interfaces should we use in the main board? video port expansion of J16, J17 or other interface?
        2. Where is the driver of DS90CR288, design by ourselves?
        3. There is some reference design could get from website? like schematic of cameralink and FPGA.
