Interesting Boot Problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: FLASHTOOL

Hi all,

I have a interesting boot problem. I am using Am/Dm 3730 Mistral OMAP3 EVM. I set the sw4 swithces to boot from SD Card, but EVM not booting. Neither X-Loader nor U-Boot booting. Than I changed SW4 switches ro boot from UART3 via FlashTool 1.6 but again not booted. EVM did not send its ASIC ID. I was working for a 3 months on this EVM everything was OK. But now i couldnt boot the EVM. Only one way I can boot the EVM. When i connect whith an emulator from JTAG and init the EVM with the gel files and run from emulator it is booting. After turn off and turn on the EVM not boot without initialization of emulator.

How can i solve this problem friends?

I need to boot without emulator, like before.

Regards,

Ahmet

  • Hi Ahmet,

Please confirm the below mentioned things on your EVM kit:

    1. When you set the SW4 Switch settings for SD/MMC Boot, does the D1 LED glow?
    2. Have you been using default images provided in the SD/MMC Card along with the kit? This helps in cornering the images issue.
    3. When you connect UART3 Console onto desktop and switch on the EVM, are you able to see ASIC id displayed in the console?

  • Hi SriHarsha,

    1. When you set the SW4 Switch settings for SD/MMC Boot, does the D1 LED glow?

No, D1 LED doesnt glow. But when i connect with the JTAG emulator and init the EVM it is glow.

    2. Have you been using default images provided in the SD/MMC Card along with the kit? This helps in cornering the images issue.

I tried with the default images, which SD Card came with the EVM, but the EVM not booted. After thet i tried with the custom images results is same, nothing changed.

    3.  When you connect UART3 Console onto desktop and switch on the EVM, are you able to see ASIC id displayed in the console?

No i cant see ASIC ID in the console.

If Taracing Vectors gives much information i can supply them to. Have you any idea about the problem?

    Regards ,

  • Hi Ahmet,

    To probe more in detail:

    1. Hope you have set the SW4 Switch settings for 1,2,3 ON & remaining OFF for SD/MMC Boot.
    2. To read the ASIC id on UART 3 Console SW4 Switch settings must be set for NAND Booting i.e 2, 4 ON & remaining OFF.
    3. Also make sure SW1 on the Processor module has all the switches in OFF position.
    4. The last step would be the suspicion on the SD Card cage; push little hard to make sure the SD/MMC Card is correctly fed.

  • Hi SriHarsha,

You are right, there is a problem with SW1 switches. SW1.1 JTAG Enable swith was ON. So proccessor dont start alone, it needs to trig from JTAG.

    Thanks a lot SriHarsha,

    Best Regards
