AM625: TAS2505 Connection Inquiry

Part Number: AM625
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2505

Tool/software:

To TI Officials

Hello. I have a question.

I'm trying to connect an AM62 to a TAS2505.

According to the IC, communication uses I2C and MCAP1, and the SOC is currently set to 3.3V and 1.8V.

For the TAS2505, the communication voltage level seems to be determined based on IOVDD.

Therefore, my questions are:
1. If I assign the SOC MCASP1 to OSPI (VDDSHV1) and change the voltage level to 3.3V, will there be any issues?

2. If I set IOVDD to 3.3V on the TAS2505 and apply 1.8V and 1.8V to DVDD and AVDD, will there be any issues with the 3.3V I2C and MCASP1 communication from the SOC?

If both of these are possible, communication between the SOC and the TAS2505 will operate at 3.3V, and the IC's internal core will operate at 1.8V, unaffected by 3.3V.

Please respond. Thank you.

  • Hello,

It looks like you want to run AM62x VDDSHV1 at 3.3 V, with TAS2505 IOVDD also at 3.3 V, while keeping DVDD and AVDD at 1.8 V. That configuration is valid, and communication between the devices will work correctly in that setup.

    Regards,
    Karam
