TMS320C6415: What is the latest IDE, OS etc. that supports this processor?

Part Number: TMS320C6415

Tool/software:

I have been trying to get the DSP/BIOS 5.42.02.10 example projects to build unsuccessfully on latest version of CCS v5 on Windows 10 with CCS running in Windows 7 compatibility mode. It throws errors in the .s62 generated file. Does that seem workable or is Windows 10 out of the question? Do I have to go back 7.2.0B1 of the Code Generation Tools since that's what the XDC Tools were validated on? Here are the versions of my current install:

DSP/BIOS 5.42.02.10

CCS 5.5.0.00077 (I also tried 7.4.0.00015)

C6000 Code Generation Tools v7.4.24

XDC Tools 3.20.08.88

  • Hello,

"Support" can have multiple meanings. For example, it is "technically possible" to use C6415 with the latest CCS 20.2.0. However, support for older obsolete devices like the C6415 is not ideal compared to newer devices. But if you really wanted to, you could probably get going with the latest CCS.

    C6000 Code Generation Tools v7.4.24

This version is the last C6000 compiler version to support your device.

As for BIOS and XDC, the device experts would have to answer that question.

With all this said, "possible" can vary quite a bit from "recommended". Obviously that device and existing examples and support packages were validated on much older versions of the tools. I will bring this thread to the attention of the device experts for further comment.

    Thanks

  • Ki,

I am very much interested in being able to compile and debug on the latest version of CCS. That's actually what I tried originally, but none of the UI even acknowledges C6x processors in my experience. Is there a tutorial on how to use older hardware in newer CCS versions?

    Thanks,

    Caleb

P.S. Did any of the experts weigh in?

  • Hi Caleb,

We do not support XDC or SYS/BIOS for C6000 anymore. I'll pass this ticket back to Ki for you latest question.

    Regards,

    Jianzhong

  • Hi Jianzhong,

I knew it was no longer being supported. My question is if there is some known good software stack for my processor. What works for me right now is CCS 2 on Windows XP and I would greatly appreciate any help migrating up from there as far as I can.

    Very Respectfully,

    Caleb
