AM62L: SoC UART information output data (when UART boot before XMODEM's "C" output)

Genius 3186 points
Part Number: AM62L

Tool/software:

Hello,

My customer is developing with AM62L.

They check device was HS-FS or HS-SE with SoC log output by ROM code when UART boot.

Referenced this :  [FAQ] [AM6XX]: How to check if device type is HS-SE, HS-FS or GP?

But it was DeviceType : TEST

-----------------------------------
-----------------------
SoC ID Public ROM Info:
-----------------------
SubBlockId           :
SubBlockSize         :
DeviceName           : am62l
DeviceType           : TEST

-----------------------------------

Is this shown simply this parts is XAM62L?

Or is there anything difference spceial for test chip from mass production chip?

And is there GP version chip on  AM62L series?

Thanks,

GR

  • Hi GR,

Please allow me some time to check this, I will get back to you once I have an update.

    Best Regards,

    Meet.

  • Hi Meet,

    Thanks for checking.

I will looking fowerd to update.

    Best Regards,

    GR

  • Hi GR,

Is this shown simply this parts is XAM62L?

This is most likely the reason why you are getting TEST as the output, please refer to the device naming convention in the datasheet:

You can refer to this to determine the device type.

And is there GP version chip on  AM62L series?

There is no GP version chip for AM62L.

    Best regards,

    Meet.

  • Hi Meet,

    Thanks for your information.

Is this shown simply this parts is XAM62L?

This is most likely the reason why you are getting TEST as the output, please refer to the device naming convention in the datasheet:

    They checked EVK's output.

Result, EVK was DeviceType : HSFS

And the DeviceType : TEST device is early sample from TI.

In the fact, There is 2 version of XAM62L. And only DeviceType : TEST version device can not load U-boot SPL.

Could you check is there hardware, ROM code ... difference between production code?

    Best Regards,

    GR

  • Hi Meet,

In the fact, There is 2 version of XAM62L. And only DeviceType : TEST version device can not load U-boot SPL.

    I checked their log output.

I believe it failed load TFA(BL31).

    Referenced(bootflow):
    software-dl.ti.com/.../BG-Bootflow-K3.html

    Log:

EVK : sucessfully boot Linux, and NOTICE:  BL31: v2.12.0(release):11.00.15-dirty had outputed

DeviceType : TEST device : After output "NOTICE:  k3_bl1_handoff ENTERING WFI - end of bl1",   "NOTICE:  BL31: v2.12.0(release):11.00.15-dirty" will not outputed. XMODEM's ROM code + C outputed.

So I believe it had failed loading BL31 firmware.

The difference of software is DDR configuration, but I believe this config does not used before U-boot SPL phaese.

So I suspect the Device Type:TEST have another function to normal (HS**) version.

    Best Regards,

    GR

  • Hi,

Could you share the entire part number for the device that is failing to boot.

Also share the boot logs with me.

    Best Regards,

    Meet.

  • Hi Meet,

    Thanks for your information.

    I attach the device masking.

and I will share boot log in e-mail (I am contacting to TI local sales team)

    Thanks,

    GR
