AM625-Q1: U-Boot 2025.01 DTS file location (dts/upstream/src/arm64/ti) vs arch/arm/dts in older versions

Hello TI ,

I am currently working with AM625-Q1 custom board  and using U-Boot 2025.01 (default k3-am625-sk.dts) as provided in the Processor SDK 11.00.09.04.
I noticed that in this version, the DTS files are located under:

dts/upstream/src/arm64/ti

Whereas in U-Boot 2024.04 and earlier versions, the DTS files were located under:

arch/arm/dts

My questions are:

  • Why are the DTS files now placed under the upstream folder in 2025.01? Does this indicate that it is still under development?

  • I currently have a working DTS from U-Boot 2023.04 (path: arch/arm/dts). I have attached my working 2023.04 DTS (k3-am625-sk.dts) below.

    • How to port my custom DTS changes from 2023.04 to 2025.01 ?
      (For example, As a standard procedure for custom board, should I directly copy my custom old DTS into arch/arm/dts with custom board name dts ? and how to make sure this newly added dts will override the default k3-am625-sk.dts and what are the recommended steps to port properly?)
