TDA4VH-Q1: Oscillator XO pin connection when used with external oscillator instead of crystal

Part Number: TDA4VH-Q1

Tool/software:

I would just like to confirm that the connection scheme that is displayed on TDA4xx Processor Specification (SPRSP79B) for the WKUP_OSC0 and OSC1, when they are used with clock input instead of crystal, is correct recommendation for the _XO output. That the XO needs to be connected to PCB ground and not to be left floating?

I just wanted to check on this as often the XO of the oscillator pins are to be left floating (also with some other TI's products).

  • Yes - the XO must be connected to ground because the circuit in the oscillator that produces our internal reference clock generator is implemented with a differential comparator that has both inputs AC coupled with internal capacitors. The XO pin must be connected to ground to ensure the AC coupling capacitor associated with the negative input is at a known potential.
