LP-AM263: Enabling secure boot on the LP-AM263

Part Number: LP-AM263

Tool/software:

Hi, is it possible to enable secure boot (moving the device from FS -> SE) on the AM263 Launchpad? It looks like the otp_keywriter SBL works out of the box with the AM263-CC, but it's not clear whether it does with the LP. In particular, can the 1.7V VPP pin be asserted on the Launchpad? If so, which header pin is this broken out on the board?

  • Hello,

According to the hardware schematic and the User Guide, there is a 1.7V LDO (U53) on the LP-AM263 specifically for EFUSE programming. Installing jumper J3 should provide 1.7V to the VPP pin. There is also a 0 Ohm resistor (R376) on that rail into the device.

If you are planning on programming the device itself, please make sure to review the information in VPP Specifications for One-Time Programmable (OTP) eFuses of the datasheet as well as the instructions/information for the OTP keywriter within secure resources.
I would also recommend testing the voltage from the 1.7V LDO before beginning the programming process to double check the voltage is within range.

    Regards,

    Susan

  • Hi, thanks for sharing this information. Regarding jumper J3, it looks like it's a header row for booster packs on the LP-AM263. By installing jumper J3 do you mean on a subset of the pins in the header row?

  • Hello,

The jumper is located near the booster pack header rows J1 and J3, but is separate from the header rows:

It is only available on Rev A of the Launchpad.
On Rev E2 versions of the Launchpad, the VPP pin is left unconnected (not pinned out).
    Regards,

    Susan
