AM69: AM69 SerDes Impedance

Part Number: AM69

Tool/software:

Hello,

I couldn’t find any information in the TI documentation about the differential impedance of the SerDes interface on the AM69. The only reference I came across was for KeyStone I devices, but I don’t think that information can be directly applied to the AM69.

Could you please clarify what the SerDes impedance is for the AM69, or explain how it is designed to remain compatible across different interface standards?

According to the specs, the SerDes on AM69 supports the following interfaces:

  • PCIe → 85 Ω

  • USB 3.x → 90 Ω

  • Ethernet SerDes (SGMII, QSGMII, USXGMII, XFI) → 100 Ω

  • eDP → 100 Ω

Each of these standards specifies a different differential impedance. What I don’t understand is how the AM69 SerDes can interface with other ICs that follow these impedance requirements.

Question: What differential impedance should be used for the PCB traces when designing with AM69 SerDes?
