AM625: Micron DDR4 8gb MT40A512M16TB-062E:R (DID Z41C)

Tool/software:

Hi  ,

We have started using for our AM62x SOMs Micron DDR4 8gb P/N: MT40A512M16LY-062E:E (DID Z11B) and all is working OK.
We been have informed that the E die is EOL and will be replaced by R die MT40A512M16TB-062E:R (DID Z41C).
Both MT40A512M16LY-062E:E, MT40A512M16TB-062E:R (DID Z41C) share same datasheet (attached)./cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/791/8gb_2D00_ddr4_2D00_sdram.pdf

There is however some mention in first page of datasheet: "Extended temperature mode during temperature controlled refresh is not supported on 8Gb Die Revision R."
looking at MR register settings table 18 (page 60, 61) and "Temperature-Controlled Refresh Mode" section page 143 I am not sure if there is an issue moving from E die to R die.

Are the MR4[3], MR[2] register bit fields "Temperature controlled refresh mode" and "Temperature controlled refresh range" both disabled in the AM62x DDR default configuration settings?
I could not find any reference to it in the sysconfig tool.

Can you check advise if there should be any issue with migrating to R die.

Thank you very much for your help,
Jhon

  • Hi Jhon, the tool has these selections for TCR:

As long as you keep TCR mode disabled and TCR range as Normal, the R die should perform the same since you would never go into Extended temperature mode.
